Drawings and Water Colours / WD1016 Piazza SS Annunziata Purchase: Peter Jones, Bury St Edmunds 2005Funding support: MLA / V & AThe bronze fountain was designed by Pietro Tacca (1557-1640), a pupil of Giambologna (1529-1608) who's statue of Grand Duke Ferdinand also stands in the Piazza. The fountain was intended for a site at Livorno around 1629 but was located here instead. The portico of the Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), which fronts the church of Santissima Annunziata, was designed by Brunelleschi (1377-1446)
