Gathering Storm ... ?

Number 6 of an edition of 30. Selected by Robert Meyrick for the School of Art Gallery and Museum Purchase Prize at the national print exhibition 'Originals 06'. A letter from the artist dated 12th March 2006 described the processes used in this work - ''Mainly a drypointed image on a copper plate. A small amount of carborundum with acrylic medium was painted on the plate into areas in the foreground and background. Charbonnel sanguine with red was painted onto the drypointed figures and printed first with a lace overlay - creating a monotype in colour. The plate was inked with Carbonnel Black ink - wiped and highlighted with newspaper and a thin layer of transparent sanguine was then rolled over the entire plate. The highlights were achieved by blotting with tissue and or using scrim to wipe away some areas to reveal the white of the paper. The black / sanguine plate was then printed over the colour mono-type.''
