Photographer and painter. Studied Fine Art at Liverpool College of Art, 1964-68, and Painting at the Royal Academy Schools, 1968-71. During the 1970s he worked as a freelance photojournalist and served as Director of both the Half Moon Photography Gallery in London, 1971-73, and the Side Gallery, Newcastle, 1976-77. He taught part-time at Barking College of Technology, 1972-73, North East London Polytechnic, 1975-78, and Sheffield Polytechnic, 1975-78. In 1977 he moved to Wales to undertake an artist's residency at Newport College of Art. He later worked on the Ffotogallery's 1985 'Valleys Project' in South Wales and published his photo-book 'Yellow' in 2000. He is best known for his powerful socio-documentary work of working class people and their landscapes in both England and Wales
