Painter, printmaker and writer. Studied at Birmingham Central School and the Slade School of Fine Art. She served as secretary of the Central Club of Colour Wood-Block Engravers, Birmingham, and exhibited with the Redfern Gallery and the Society of Graver Printers in Colour. During the Second World War she served in the Land Army, 1940-45. She specialised in colour woodcuts, linocuts and lithographs of varied subjects but later in life, though suffering from arthritis, turned to writing books on horticulture including 'Flowers and Their History', 1956, and 'The Book of Flowers', Phaidon, 1973
