Born: 1899, UK, England, Northampton   Died: 1985

Calligrapher. Studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, 1917-22. During the 1920s she worked as a gilder in Joseph Armitage's workshop, 1922, and taught as a handicraft tutor at a borstal institution, 1924, and as an assistant teacher in calligraphy at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, 1927-30. She also worked as a conservation assistant to S. Kennedy North, 1928-30, and was co-author with calligrapher Alfred Fairbank (1895-1982) of several articles on the Renaissance writing-master Ludovico Vincentino degli Arrighi. She was a founder member of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators and later served as the Society's Secretary between 1937 and 1943. A collection of her papers is held in the Archive of Art and Design at the Victoria and Albert Museum
