Born: UK, England, Kent?   Active: 1862-1908

Painter. Grew up in Canterbury but moved to North Wales during his early twenties to pursue an artistic career. He was based at Betws-y-Coed, from c.1862, where he married Catrin, the daughter of a local blacksmith. He was a founder member of the Royal Cambrian Academy, a prize-winner in the 1906 National Eisteddfod and an avid collector of Welsh folk art. Influenced by his friend Clarence Whaite (1828-1912), he painted landscapes of North Wales
