Jean-Baptiste Deshays

Born: 1729, France, Colleville   Died: 1765, Paris

Painter. Also known as 'Deshays of Colleville'. Son-in-law of François Boucher (1703-1770). Studied under the painters Hyacinthe Collin de Vermont and Jean Restout II and for three years at the Ecole des Elèves Protégés under Carle Vanloo (1705-1765). He won the Prix de Rome in 1751 and later attended the Académie de France in Rome, 1754-58. He painted religious and mythological subjects, portraits and decorative work
