Photographer. Companion of the female artist Ray Howard-Jones (1903-1996). First studied at Wallasey College of Art, 1937-40, before serving in the RAF during the Second World War. After the war he studied painting at the Royal College of Art, 1947-50, where he turned to photography (he later destroyed all his paintings). During the 1950s and 60s he taught photography at Watford College of Art and in 1968 visited America where he worked with the photographer Minor Martin White (1908-1976) and had a one man show at the Art Institute of Chicago, 1970. He was later appointed a lecturer at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham, 1974-78. He produced photographs of landscapes with an abstract, purist element
