Born: 1882, UK, England, Worcester   Died: 1964, Bournemouth

Painter. Son of a tailor. He and his brother Francis served as apprentices at the Royal Worcester Porcelain Factory and both also attended the Victoria Art Institute in Worcester. His family moved to Wales in 1900 where he initially worked as a miner. He wrote poetry for awhile but soon decided to pursue a career as an artist. In 1908 he married Kate Marian Hughes and together they raised eight children living for a time in Risca, South Wales. During the First World War he served as a private in the 8th Worcester Regiment. He painted landscapes, garden scenes and still lifes, particularly flower studies, and claimed to have made over 2000 watercolours during his career. He exhibited at the Cambridge Drawing Society in 1938. During the Second World War he moved to the Midlands and undertook war work
