Robert Colquhoun

Born: 1914, UK, Scotland, Kilmarnock   Died: 1962, London

Painter, printmaker and designer. Studied at Glasgow School of Art, 1933-38. Travelled to France and Italy in 1938 before serving briefly in the Second World War. He was a companion of the painter Robert MacBryde (1913-1966) and together they ran a popular studio in Campden Hill, 1941-47, which attracted artists such as John Minton (1917-1957), Keith Vaughan (1912-1977) and Prunella Clough (1919-1999). He then lived in Lewes, East Sussex, 1947-48, and in Italy, 1949, before returning to London. He produced semi-cubist figure compositions
