Born: 1763, UK, England, Berkshire   Died: 1841, London, Pentonville

Painter. Pupil of William Pether (1738-1821). He first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1788 becoming an associate member of the Academy in 1810. He toured North Wales with John Varley, 1798-99, and, in 1828, worked in France where his drawings of river scenes were used to illustrate his publication of that year 'The River Meuse'. He is known mainly for his marine paintings and topograhical views including a number of scenes for Thomas Wright's 'History and Topography of the County of Essex', 1836. After 1825, he received the patronage of the Duke of Gloucester. He was a tutor to Henry William Pickersgill (1782-1875) and his son, Sebastian Wyndham Arnald, was also an artist
