Painter, printmaker, designer and writer. Studied at St Albans School of Art, 1947-48, and under John Nash (1893-1977) at the Royal College of Art, 1950-53. He taught at the latter between 1953 and 1955. He travelled in Europe, India and America during the 1950s. He has designed 100 stamps for the Royal Mail and was awarded an ARCA Gold Medal for stamp designing in 1970. He works mainly in lithography and wood engraving. As a writer his first published book was 'Design in Miniature' (1972) followed by a number of travel books
