Painter and printmaker. Wife of the artist Julian Trevelyan (1910-1988). Studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, 1932-36. Taught at the Royal College of Art, where she was the first female tutor, 1958-64, and also at the Yehudi Menhuin School, 1965-70. She served as President of the Royal West of England Academy, 1984-88, and was elected a Royal Academician in the Senior Order in 1992. She lived and worked at Chiswick in London where she painted colourful still lifes often incorporating collage. She also produced numerous lithographs and painted murals, the latter including commissions for the Festival of Britain, 1951, the P&O Liner Canberra, 1961, and Colindale Hospital, 1985
