Painter, printmaker, illustrator and photographer. Brother of John Nash (1893-1977). Studied part-time at Chelsea Polytechnic, 1906, evening classes at the School of Photo-Engraving and Lithography, and at the Slade School, 1910-11. Worked as an Official War Artist in both the First World War and the Second World War. He taught at the Royal College of Art, 1924-25 and 1938-40. He was a co-founder of Unit One in 1933, a group of British abstract and surrealist artists. In 1934 he travelled to Spain, France and Morocco and two years later he participated in the International Surrealist Exhibition in London. He painted surreal landscapes, produced wood engravings during the 1920s and designed stage scenery and posters
