Painter and printmaker. Lived in Canada as a young teenager and on his return studied at Birmingham College of Arts and Crafts, 1931-37. He exhibited with the Artists' International Association and the Surrealist Exhibition in 1937. He then taught briefly at a school in Shipley, Yorkshire, 1938, before serving in the Second World War. After leaving the armed services he taught at Cardiff College of Art, 1944-73, and became a founder member of the 56 Group Wales. He lived in Cornwall, 1973-81, before moving to Keynsham, near Bristol, and then Barry, South Wales. He produced colourful abstracts as well as varied subjects rendered in blocks of pastel shades
