Painter, printmaker, poet, art dealer and curator. Studied in London, Antwerp and the Académie Julian, Paris, during the 1890s. Appointed Curator of the Holburne of Menstrie Museum in Bath in 1905, a post he held until 1913 when he was able to retire on the proceeds of a financial investment in the West Indian Rubber Company. In 1928 he curated an exhibition of contemporary British art from his own collection at the Whitechapel Art Gallery, London. He also published books on poetry, 'Ballad of Disdain' (1919) and 'Poems' (1933), and a play in 1935. He produced drawings, paintings and etchings, usually containing figures, in various styles. As the chief adviser to the Davies sisters of Gregynog, he influenced their purchases of 19th-century French art
