Prunella Clough

Born: 1919, UK, England, London   Died: 1999, London

Painter, printmaker and commercial artist. Niece of the designer Eileen Grey. Initially studied part-time at Chelsea School of Art, 1937-39. She then worked as a mapmaker during the Second World War before studying again at Camberwell School of Art, 1946-49. During the 1950s she was associated with the Camden Hill Studio group of artists including John Minton (1917-1957) and Keith Vaughan (1912-1977). She taught part-time at Chelsea, 1956-69, and at Wimbledon, 1966-97, Schools of Art. She was awarded the Jerwood Painting Prize shortly before her death in 1999. She produced partly figurative, partly abstract, studies of urban objects and people
