Printmaker and painter. Wife of Ernest Lumsden (1883-1948). Daughter of a country parson. Although awarded a scholarship to the Royal Academy Schools in 1889, she decided instead to study at the Slade School of Art, early 1890s. She later worked in Paris with Walter Sickert (1860-1942) before teaching in Canada at Havergal College, Toronto, and then in Scotland at Edinburgh College of Art. She travelled widely with Lumsden after their marriage in 1913 visiting Paris, Italy, Egypt, Tibet and India, residing in the latter between 1914 and 1918. On their return to Britain she resumed teaching at Edinburgh. She is known for her colour woodcuts, producing 61 such prints over her career, with subjects including Indian workers and street scenes, 1920-30, and flowers, 1933-38. She was a member of The Society of Graver Printers in Colour
