Jane Corsellis

Born: 1940, UK, England, Oxford

Painter, draughtsman and printmaker. Studied at Byam Shaw School of Art, London, from 1960-4, where she was awarded the Leverhulme Scholarship and final year Painting Prize. While still a student she exhibited at the Young Contemporaries Exhibition and at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. She has travelled extensively throughout her career, living and working in Spain, Canada, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia and India. These days she has makes frequent painting trips to France, Italy, Austria and Wales. As well as exhibiting abroad she has shown at NEAC, RBA, RWS RCamA and many other British locations, along with holding several successful solo exhibitions at the New Academy Gallery in London. Her works are housed in collections throughout the world, and she is a member of the New English Art Club, the Royal Cambrian Academy and the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour. Corsellis released the book 'Painting Figures in Light' in 1982, which was published in the United States by Watson and Guptill, and later published in the UK. David and Charles published her second book ‘A Personal View Painting in Oils and Watercolour’ in 2000. At the same time, APV Films released a film of Jane at work titled 'Landscapes in Oils'. A second film 'Coastal Watercolours' followed in 2004. She is currently a teaching member of the NEAC Drawing School.
