Brown was ‘born on the shores of a large grey lake’ in Toronto, Canada, but moved to Britain aged 24 and took up a part time teaching position at Somerset College of Arts and Technology. He moved to Bridgend upon meeting his second wife, Carys Griffiths, where both his art and artistic reputation flourished in the Welsh Valleys. His fantastic and highly imaginative work comprised a blend of visual imagery derived from his surroundings, his travels, mythology, poetry and folklore. He exhibited with the Welsh Group of artists as well as the 56 Group Wales. Brown’s work has been shown in major public galleries, not only in Wales and Canada but also the Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and South Korea.
