Display artist/maker:

Thomas Pardoe

Born: 1770, UK, England, Derby   Died: 1823, UK, Wales, Nantgarw

Enameler. Apprenticed at Derby porcelain in the 1780s. His work in Swansea at the turn of the century saw him influenced by the potter and botanist Lewis Weston Dillwyn (1778-1855). From 1809 until 1821 Pardoe worked in Bristol as an independent decorator of china and glassware, earning himself a name for his botanical scenes. In 1821 he moved to Nantgarw, a village known for its porcelain; he died only two years later, leaving his son William Henry Pardoe to take over Nantgarw Pottery ten years later.
