Edward Purcell

Born: Ireland, Dublin?   Active: 1810-1830

Printmaker. An early lithographer working in London and Dublin. He drew after various artists and saw his work included in 'Lithographic Costumes of Russia and Persia' (1821) and 'Sporting Sketches' (1824), the latter after Henry Alken. His own drawings are well represented in 'Sketches in Lithography, Containing Forty Original Subjects, Designed and Drawn by E. Purcell' published by Thomas McLean in London in 1822. Mclean and another publisher, J Dickenson, also printed Purcells drawings of equine subjects after Vernet
