Charles Oliver Murray

Born: 1842, UK, Scotland, Roxburghshire   Died: 1924, UK, England

Printmaker. Studied at the Edinburgh School of Design and at the Royal Scottish Academy Schools, where he won the Keith Prize and medals for anatomical studies and drawing from the antique. He produced engravings of landscapes, architectural subjects, portraits and historical views after artists such as Alma-Tadema (1836-1912) and Charles Whymper (1853-1941) as well as etching his own designs. In 1881 he was elected to the Royal Engravers where he exhibited a total of over one hundred and fifty etchings. He was also a founder-member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers. In addition, he also regularly exhibited at both the Royal Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy
