Born: 1945, UK, England, Surrey, Esher

Sculptor, OBE RA. Studied at Kingston College of Art 1963-67 and Chelsea School of Art 1969-70. Nash works with wood on a large scale, shaping live trees and carving and burning wood with chainsaws and blowtorches. He is also famed for his "land art"; begun in 1978, 'Wooden Boulder' is a large carved wooden sphere that began its journey on a Welsh mountain and has naturally made its way to the Atlantic Ocean, weathered and moved by time and nature. In 1999 Nash was elected a member of the Royal Academy, appointed a Research Fellow at the University of Northumbria and awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Art & Design by Kingston University.
