Born: 1944, UK, England, London, East End

Photographer and printmaker. On leaving school Claridge began work in the photography department of a London advertising agency. Thereafter, while still in his teens, he worked with designer Robert Brownjohn and was employed for two years as a photographer's assistant to David Montgomery. At the age of 19 he opened his own studio in the City of London and quickly established a reputation as a leading advertising photographer receiving numerous awards. In addition to commercial work, he has published photo books including 'One Hundred Photographs' 1988, 'Seven Days in Havana', 2000, '8 Hours', 2002 and 'In Shadows I Dream', 2003. His recent work explores the relationships between photography and the internet. He has also combined his work with printmaking through the medium of contone - a recent photo-mechanical development in lithography. Claridge is represented by Hilary Bradford + Associates
