Painter and printmaker. Willoughby graduated in Fine Art at Birmingham School of Art, 1968-70, received an Art Teachers Diploma at Leicester Polytechnic, 1970-71, and studied Illustration at the University West of England, 1987-89. Based in Somerset, she works and as artist, her projects including private and public commissions, and art teacher, running for example workshops together with writing tutor Briony Griffin. She is a member of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers and regularly exhibits at The Bankside Gallery, London. She takes her inspiration from personal experiences and the landscape around her, often replacing human beings with animals in her images. Her sketchbooks and journals are filled with ideas and impressions that are subsequently incorporated in her works. Her preferred printmaking techniques are monotype, etching and mixed media, e. g. collagraph and carborundum.
