Ceramicist. She studied a Foundation in Art at Sutton School of Art and then trained under Michael Casson at Harrow, in 1969 she moved to Oxshott, working in a studio in the garden of Denise and Rosemary Wren. She has been a member of the Craft Potters Association since 1971. In 1978 she moved with her husband, Terry Bell Hughes to Llandudno Junction, where they both continue to work. Beverley Bell Hughes, works in stoneware inspired by the natural forms she finds on local beaches and in the local hills. The abstract forms have a highly tactile surface created by mixing the clay with pre-fired materials to give a rough, ancient, distressed surface evoking shells and fossils with a highly tactile surface. Beverley Bell Hughes has been partially sighted since childhood.
