An inscription reads "My intention has been to express by the attitudes I have given to Louis, Candé and Turénne their general character - in Louis his stately dignity, in Candé his fidgety restlessness - and in Turenne his calm wisdom." Henri de Turenne (1611-1675) was a Marshal of France and military tutor of Louis XIV. He led a war front into the Netherlands winning battles, alongside Prince Condé (1621-1686), at Freiburg in 1644 and Nordlingen in 1645
