Number 15 of an edition of 75. Printed by Ann Marshall. Purchased as part of a portfolio of ten prints, by ten different artists, published by the Printmakers' Council. The ten artist's donated the prints in the portfolio which was designed to raise funds for the Council. The Portfolio was organised by Joseph Winkelman
Birds on the river Thames, London; foreground, a cormorant sitting on a post, a heron standing on the lakeside, four white birds in flight and two canada geese, three gulls, a grebe? and a swan on the water; background, silhouettes of trees and semi-detatched houses with chimneys. Black tones are in aquatint. Grey tones are varied textures created by pressing pieces of hessian, doily and wire mesh into the soft ground on the plate. Paper has the watermark 'ARCHES FRANCE'
