HH Judge Burgis

From an edition of approximately 12. Holloway met Sir Edwin Burgis at the Old England Hotel, Sutton-On-Trent. He brought a picture from Holloway and invited him to visit his home in Barlaston, near Macclesfield where he commissioned an etched portrait. Holloway made two pencil drawings - the first in a lounge suit and the other in full regalia of wig and gown. The latter Holloway recalled 'would have made the most interesting etching. However he preferred not to be depicted in his working clothes.' Holloway also made two drawings of the judge from the solicitors bench in Stockport County Court, dated 20th July 1937.
