Prints / PR2827 Clown and Sunflowers Gift: The artist / Robert Meyrick 2003show object description Clown and Sunflowers; a male performer, stood backstage, with an impressive arrangement of sunflowers which seemingly frame the figures face. With a bare face and wearing a hair net, the entertainer has been captured in a lonely and awkward stance with his hands strangely positioned. In costume, with an oversized un-tailored fit, the entertainer could be understood to be either preparing to go on stage or just coming off it. Artist John Roberts has used a soft ground technique which has created a softness and a dark edge to the print which adds to the figures illumination.
