Sheep shearing at a farm in the Elan Valley(?) Approximately thirty farmers and sheep shearers are gathered in the yard and two barns of a farm. The farmers wear white shirts, waistcoats and hats. In the foreground are shorn sheep resting, some of which are being branded. Their fleeces are being cleaned (?) by men on benches inside and outside the barns. On the exterior wall of one barn are two large scythes. Some farmers watch from behind railings. Behind the barns are coniferous trees. Etched in detail with parallel lines and cross hatching. Printed area does not extend to plate marks. Indistinct watermark in paper, possibly 'J. WHATMAN 1884 B'
