Self portrait as a bohemian. He depicts himself with a beard and unkempt hair with a centre parting. All detail is reserved for the face and hair. Etched in small sketchy lines with some limited stipple. Wiping used for dark areas of surface tone in the four corners creating a dramatic light around the portrait. Paper has an unidentified watermark consisting of the lower part of an Atlas-like figure standing on a sphere which in turn rests on a book
