Though originally catalogued as 'October Poem' the painting is clearly inscribed 'Poem in October, Laugharne'. The title could relate to the fact that Laugharne is associated as the home of the poet Dylan Thomas
Semi-abstract coastal scene at Laugharne, South Wales. Abstract design representing houses, boats and water. Angular lines of black are filled with blocks of muted colours including pink-purple, turquoise, grey, blue, ochre and grey-green. Subtle tonal variations within each block of colour. On the left is possibly the estuary with boats and in the centre and right houses? at various levels. Two small concave shapes in the upper centre perhaps represent birds. Frame is chipped and the canvas is slack and slightly buckled
