The bird form was originally carved by the maker in 1994 from a block of plaster and a mould made in three sections: the body, handle and foot. The teapot was slip cast in 1996 with a liquid semi porcelain clay. The work is glazed inside and out. Theakton's work can have as many as three glaze firings in order to build up a sensititve shading effect by varying the thickness of the glaze.
