Under the title 'Intimate Distance', this body of work examines the use of technologies to mediate and communicate experience of landscape while exploring the potential relationship between digital media and painting. The paintings focus on presence and bring together a series of films made by 14 participants across the UK who recorded the sunrise and sunset on the winter solstice 2008 using their mobile phones then texted the images to me in Aberystwyth. The paintings embody a synthesis of people and place culminating in the intense relationship between painter and the surface of the painting and the viewer.
