Thomas Edward Ellis MP (1859-1899) was founder of the Old Students Association. A larger-than-life-size sculpture of him, by Goscombe John, stands in the Old College Quadrangle
Portrait of Thomas Edward Ellis MP (1859-1899). He is viewed seated and wearing a three-piece suit, a watch chain and a spotted bow tie / cravat. He is middle-aged, has a moustache, a receding hairline and turns his head to his right to look towards the viewer face-on. He rests his forearms on the arms of the chair, the latter with carved detail, and holds his hands together on his lap. Dark background creates a chiaroscuro effect
